What You Can Expect To Pay
Our innovative model allows you to hire caregivers directly, with as much or as little support from us as you’d like and can help you save up to 25% compared to hiring through a traditional agency.
The overall cost of hiring a caregiver includes the following:
1) Caregiver Wages
This is the wage rate that both you and your caregiver mutually agree on. Caregivers' average hourly rates vary depending on where you're located, ranging from $10-$25 per hour.
2) Small Service Fee
An additional 20% fee that is applied on each caregiver invoice. Please take a look at the article below on what this small fee covers.
*️⃣ Employer Taxes
As a direct employer, don't forget that you are responsible for state and federal employment taxes that is about 12% of your total caregiver invoice. This includes:
Federal Social Security - 6.2%
Federal Medicare - 1.45% of wages
State/Federal Unemployment Taxes - Varies from state to state (2-3%)
Tip💡: Caregiver Wage + Service Fee (20%) + Taxes (12%) = Total Cost
(To help you calculate hourly costs after taxes & fees, scroll down to Caregiving Services where you will see 'Hourly rate' for a selected caregiver)
All employment taxes are automatically calculated for you at each invoice and filed to the federal or state authorities through CareLinx when only when you are enrolled in our tax management provider, HomeWork Solutions (HWS).
Reminder, HWS is a free service! If you do not enroll in HWS, taxes will not be withheld from your invoice and your caregiver's pay. Therefore, you will have to make up for both tax expenses entitled to you and your caregiver at the end of the year if you choose not to pay tax obligations by not enrolling in HWS (which is more costly for you in the long run 😓). It's your responsibility as an employer to withhold your caregiver's tax portion from their total wage. By enrolling in HWS, they can manage this on all of your invoices.
CareLinx accepts private pay (debit/credit card, ACH) and the majority of long-term insurance plans. At this time, we do not accept Medicare or Medicaid.
Please contact your insurance carrier to verify your plan’s benefits.
