Prior to hiring your caregiver you’ll want to make sure to you’ve done these three things:
- Agree upon an hourly wage and other expenses, such as mileage reimbursement.
- Decide if each party will be responsible for their own federal employment taxes. If you’re feeling generous, you can pay the caregiver’s portion.
- Determine how often a caregiver will submit their timesheet -- weekly, every two weeks, or monthly.
